RPG games are popular among gamers who love to immerse themselves in rich and diverse worlds, where they can make choices, explore, and create their own stories. However, not all RPG games require you to kill enemies or follow a linear plot. Some of them offer high levels of freedom and creativity, where you can do almost anything you want without harming anyone. Here are some of the best RPG games with high freedom and no need to kill.

10. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a masterpiece of RPG gaming, where you play as Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter with supernatural abilities. Although you can’t create your own character or kill any NPC you want, you can still enjoy the freedom of exploring a vast and beautiful open world, with underwater areas and 75% of the houses accessible. The game’s core is its dynamic quest system, where your choices can lead to completely different outcomes. The game’s story is also unparalleled in RPGs, with superb writing, voice acting, and graphics.

9. Just Cause 4

Just Cause 4 is a highly free sandbox game, where you can cause chaos and destruction in a fictional South American country. You can use a grappling hook, a wingsuit, and various vehicles and weapons to unleash your creativity and have fun. For example, you can hook a cow and an NPC together and launch them into the sky. Although the game has a lot of freedom, it also has a weak story and many bugs. It is recommended to play it just for fun.

8. This War of Mine

This War of Mine is a unique and free 2D side-scrolling sandbox game, where you control a group of civilians trying to survive in a war-torn city. This game is suitable for players with low computer configurations and high quality requirements. The game’s story is also very deep and touching. The core of the game is the choices you have to make under the scarcity of resources. This game not only tells you the cruelty of war, but also shows you how terrible human nature can be.

7. Fallout: New Vegas

Fallout: New Vegas is a representative work of post-apocalyptic RPG games, where you play as a courier who survives a gunshot to the head and gets involved in a conflict between various factions in the Mojave Wasteland. You can equip yourself with anything you find, from guns to clothes to junk. You can also have a dog companion by your side. Your main task is to scavenge for resources and complete quests that are more like a market than a story. If you want to experience the human nature in the wasteland, Fallout: New Vegas is a good choice.

6. Mount & Blade: Warband

Mount & Blade: Warband is a medieval RPG game, where you are born in a chaotic era of cold weapons, where empires are at war, bandits are rampant, and misery is everywhere. This is Calradia, a continent full of war and bloodshed. The game’s outstanding feature is its large-scale battles, where you can lead your own army or join one of the factions. You can also siege castles, trade goods, recruit soldiers, marry princesses, and more. The world is dynamic and unpredictable. The village you want to visit may be prosperous today, poor tomorrow, or raided by robbers the next day. The game also has many mods that enhance its freedom and replayability.

5. Cities: Skylines

If you like city-building games, Cities: Skylines is undoubtedly one of the best ones out there. You can design and manage your own city, from roads to zoning to services to policies. You can also use various mods and assets from the online community to create your own metropolis.

4.5 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a masterpiece of open-world gaming, where you play as Link, who wakes up after a hundred years of slumber and sets out to save Hyrule from the evil Calamity Ganon. The game’s freedom may not be the highest among its peers, as Link cannot kill NPCs, build houses, or have teammates, but it makes you feel free and capable of anything. You can climb anywhere, glide anywhere, chop trees, make fire, hunt animals, cook food, and more. The game’s world is full of secrets and surprises that reward your curiosity and exploration.

4. GTA V

GTA V is one of the most famous and successful open-world games ever made. You can play as three different characters: Michael, Franklin, and Trevor, who are involved in various heists and crimes in Los Santos, a fictional city based on Los Angeles. You can also switch between them at any time and see what they are doing. The game’s freedom is evident in its meticulous game details and rich game story. You can drive cars, bikes, planes, boats, and more. You can also rob banks, play golf, go to the strip club, watch movies, and more. The game also has an online mode, where you can play with other players and create your own missions.

3. Spore

Spore is a game that lets you manipulate the evolution of a species, from a tiny cell to a space-faring civilization. You can also decide the appearance, shape, and future of your creature. As the game progresses, your species will gradually dominate the planet, gain advantages, and enter the space age. That’s when the real freedom begins. You can explore the galaxy, colonize planets, terraform worlds, make allies or enemies, and more.

2. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Do you remember Skyrim, the land of dragons and Nords in Tamriel? The Elder Scrolls is undoubtedly an excellent RPG game series that can satisfy your fantasies of western fantasy games. It can break the limits of game freedom and let you do whatever you want in its vast and immersive world. You can create your own character, choose your race, skills, and perks. You can also join various factions, such as the Companions, the Thieves Guild, the Dark Brotherhood, and more. You can also craft weapons, armor, potions, and enchantments. You can also use mods to customize your game experience and even create your own quests and content.

1. The Sims Series

The name says it all. The Sims series is a game that simulates life. The game’s freedom is to approach reality as much as possible. You can do anything you can do in real life in The Sims series. You can create your own sims, choose their appearance, personality, traits, and aspirations. You can also build your own house, decorate it with furniture and objects, and even design your own neighborhood. You can also make friends, fall in love, get married, have children, get a job, pursue hobbies, and more. It is not just a game, but also a tool that allows you to create artistic works freely.

How to Build a Stellar Character in Starfield: A Detailed Guide on Talent Points

Starfield is a sci-fi sandbox game that lets you explore the galaxy, build your own spaceship, and customize your character. One of the most important aspects of character customization is the talent system, which allows you to enhance your skills and abilities in various fields. In this guide, I will share with you my personal experience and recommendations on how to allocate your talent points in Starfield, based on my third playthrough of the game. Of course, there is no one definitive way to build your character, and different playstyles may require different choices. Therefore, feel free to disagree with me and experiment with your own preferences.

Basic Talents

Let’s start with the first layer of basic talents. These are the talents that you can unlock from the beginning of the game, and they have a significant impact on your gameplay. Here is my conclusion and analysis, ranked by priority: Security, Jetpack, Target Control System, Persuasion, Stealing, Strength, Ballistics, Stealth, Driving.

First of all, you need to invest in the Technical category, specifically Security and Jetpack. Security is the ability to unlock chests, safes, doors, computers, and other devices. There are many things that you need to unlock in the game, and some of them may contain valuable rewards or shortcuts. Besides, some quests and puzzles can also be solved by unlocking certain devices. The lockpick consumption is very low in this game, and you only need one lockpick per attempt. However, every time you choose the wrong pattern and need to withdraw, you will consume one lockpick as well. Therefore, make sure to replenish your lockpicks whenever you encounter a merchant.

Jetpack unlocks the ability to use jet propulsion after jumping. This allows you to reach some high places and travel faster. For example, in the Red Carp Race quest, you can drink a potion that increases your speed and then bounce all the way to the finish line. If you level up this talent enough, you can also achieve unlimited flight on some low-gravity planets. This is also very useful in small-scale combat situations, as you can switch your ammo while flying in the air.

Next is the Target Control System talent, which unlocks the aiming ability for your spaceship. When you engage in space combat, you can wait until the target is locked and then press R to enter bullet time mode. This allows you to precisely attack the enemy’s specific parts. As long as you destroy their engine, you can approach them and press R again to board their ship. You can then loot their resources or even take their ship for yourself. This is a must-have skill for space combat.

The remaining Driving skill is not very useful in the early stages of the game. It is essentially a spaceship license that allows you to pilot different classes of ships. However, if you are interested in building and upgrading your own spaceship, you need to unlock this skill as soon as possible to complete the challenges. Otherwise, you will only be able to watch the good ships but not drive them. However, I suggest that you focus on upgrading your weapon system first before investing in this skill.

Moving on to the Science category, most of the skills here are related to resource extraction and crafting. I didn’t start exploring these mechanisms until my third playthrough of the game, so they are not very helpful for quests in the early stages of the game. You can skip them for now unless you are very interested in base building and planet resource exploration. The only skill that you need to invest in is Medical Science, which enhances your healing ability. This is very important for survival in hostile environments.

Astrodynamics seems like a useful skill that increases your warp range. However, most of the quests in the early stages of the game are not that far away from each other. Even if you need to warp over long distances occasionally, you can always find some intermediate planets to stop by along the way. Besides, one of your early companions Sara has this skill by default, so you can just assign her as a crew member on your ship.

Then we have Combat Talents. Unless you have a specific preference for a certain combat style, there is no need to invest too much in these skills either. I often run out of ammo for my firearms, so I usually carry six or seven different types of guns with me. I switch them whenever I run out of ammo for one type. Therefore, it is very difficult for me to specialize in one type of firearm. The only skill that I invested in was Ballistics Hole, which increases the damage of solid projectiles. This is very useful because most of the weapons that you can find in the game are solid projectile weapons, so they can all benefit from this skill.

The Social category has Persuasion, which can save you a lot of trouble in some quests. If you want to avoid running errands or fighting, this is a must-have skill. However, if you prefer to fight your way through everything, you can skip this skill as well. Stealing is not very necessary either, as there is nothing that you must steal to make things easier. You can invest in this skill if you like, but it is not a priority.

The Physical category has Strength, which increases your carrying capacity. This is a very important skill, especially if you don’t want to use console commands to change your weight limit. You will find a lot of items and resources in the game, and you don’t want to miss any of them because of your limited inventory space. Endurance is another essential skill that increases your stamina limit. You don’t have any vehicles in this game, so you have to run everywhere. Therefore, you need to have enough stamina to move around quickly and efficiently. However, be careful with the upgrade condition for this skill, which requires you to deplete all your available oxygen. This means that you have to run out of both the blue and red bars on your oxygen meter.

Advanced Talents

These are the talents that you can unlock after leveling up your basic talents. These are more specific and tailored to different playstyles, so I will not give a comprehensive recommendation for them. Instead, I will just mention a few of the most powerful ones that I found. You can decide for yourself which ones suit your preferences best.

In the Technical category, we have Shield System and New Construction. These are both very useful for dealing with some difficult space station battles later in the game. You need to have a strong shield to withstand the high firepower of the enemies, and you also need to repair your ship quickly and reduce the damage taken. These are essential skills for high-pressure combat situations.

New Construction is also the core skill for building and upgrading your own spaceship. You can unlock advanced components with this skill and customize your ship according to your needs. However, this is more of a side activity that is not directly related to the main quests.

In the Science category, all the skills are related to gathering and researching resources. This is more of a freeform playstyle that is outside of the main questline. The most useful skill here is Weapon Engineering, which allows you to modify your weapons. As I mentioned before, I often run out of ammo in this game, so I need to increase my damage output to reduce my ammo consumption. With Weapon Engineering, I can customize my weapons according to my preferences and enhance their performance.

The rest of the skills depend on whether you like less combat and more resource collection. You can choose them according to your own playstyle.

In the Combat category, again, it depends on your preferred weapon type and combat style. The only skills that I recommend are Explosives and Fast Reload. Explosives shows you the trajectory of your grenades and increases the damage of explosive weapons. This is very helpful for using heavy weapons like grenade launchers, which are very effective against groups of enemies or armored targets.

Fast Reload reduces the reload time of your weapons, which is very important for maintaining a high fire rate and avoiding being overwhelmed by enemies. This skill works well with any type of weapon and can make a big difference in combat situations.

In the Social category, you can choose between Negotiation and Threaten, depending on whether you want to be more diplomatic or aggressive in your interactions with other characters. Lone Wolf is a good choice for solo players who don’t want to rely on companions. Fencing is a good choice for melee players who want to increase their damage output and defense.

Leadership and Management are skills that enhance your crew members’ abilities and loyalty. However, these are not very necessary unless you really care about your crew members’ performance and happiness.

Manipulation is a skill that unlocks some special options in certain quests involving the Dragon God Corporation faction. However, you can also get this skill for free as a reward from one of their quests.

Finally, in the Physical category, Gymnastics is surprisingly useful. It reduces the fall damage that you take and increases your movement speed on low-gravity planets. This can make traveling much easier and faster.

If you want to become a fist fighter, you need to invest in Boxing, Martial Arts, Bone Breaking, and all the related skills along that line. These skills will increase your unarmed damage and give you some special moves that can stun or cripple your enemies.

Stealth and Invisibility are skills that depend on whether you like stealth gameplay or not. These skills are very hard to train and have a poor experience in the early stages of the game. Therefore, I suggest that you only invest in them if you really enjoy stealth gameplay.

That’s all for my guide on how to build a stellar character in Starfield. I hope you found it helpful and interesting. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to leave a comment below. I would love to hear from you.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if two different civilizations with vastly different levels of technology and culture met each other? Would they be able to communicate, cooperate, or even coexist? Or would they inevitably clash, compete, or even destroy each other?

In this article, I will explore this fascinating scenario by using a fictional example from a popular Chinese web novel.

The novel is called “When the Star Destroyer Meets the Golden Core”, and it tells the story of a starship captain from a highly advanced technological civilization who accidentally travels to a mysterious planet where a cultivation civilization exists.

What is a Technological Civilization?

A technological civilization is a civilization that uses science and technology to understand and manipulate the natural world.

A technological civilization usually has a high degree of industrialization, urbanization, and globalization.

A technological civilization also has access to various forms of energy, information, and transportation.

One way to measure the level of a technological civilization is by using the Kardashev scale. The Kardashev scale is a hypothetical framework that classifies civilizations based on their energy consumption.

According to the Kardashev scale, there are three types of technological civilizations:

Type I: A civilization that can harness all the energy available on its home planet.

Type II: A civilization that can harness all the energy available from its home star and its planetary system.

Type III: A civilization that can harness all the energy available from its home galaxy.

The novel’s protagonist, Han Yu, belongs to a level 9 technological civilization, which is far beyond the Kardashev scale. A level 9 technological civilization can manipulate the fundamental forces of nature, such as gravity, electromagnetism, and nuclear forces. A level 9 technological civilization can also travel across the multiverse, create artificial dimensions, and perform dimensional attacks.

Some of the features of a level 9 technological civilization are:

Starships: Starships are massive spacecrafts that can travel faster than light and carry various weapons and equipment. Han Yu’s starship is called the West River Star Destroyer, and it is one of the most powerful starships in the Federation. The West River Star Destroyer has a length of 3.6 kilometers, a width of 1.2 kilometers, and a height of 0.8 kilometers. It can carry up to 10,000 crew members and 100 tanks. It is equipped with an ion shield, an antimatter engine, an artificial intelligence system, and various types of cannons and missiles.

Tanks: Tanks are armored vehicles that can travel on land and fly in the air. Han Yu’s tank is called the Kirin Tank, and it is one of the most advanced tanks in the Federation. The Kirin Tank has a length of 12 meters, a width of 4 meters, and a height of 3 meters. It can carry up to four crew members and two passengers. It is equipped with an ion shield, an electric engine, an artificial intelligence system, and various types of guns and bombs.

Artificial Intelligence: Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science that aims to create machines and systems that can perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as learning, reasoning, and decision making. Han Yu’s artificial intelligence is called Wang Shu, and it is one of the most intelligent artificial intelligence in the Federation. Wang Shu can control the West River Star Destroyer and the Kirin Tank, as well as provide Han Yu with various information and assistance. Wang Shu can also communicate with Han Yu using natural language and emotion.

What is a Cultivation Civilization?

A cultivation civilization is a civilization that uses spiritual energy and martial arts to enhance and transcend their physical and mental abilities. A cultivation civilization usually has a low degree of industrialization, urbanization, and globalization. A cultivation civilization also has access to various forms of magic, alchemy, and teleportation.

One way to measure the level of a cultivation civilization is by using the cultivation realm system. The cultivation realm system is a common framework that classifies cultivators based on their spiritual energy and martial arts.

According to the cultivation realm system, there are nine major cultivation realms:

The novel’s plot begins when Han Yu’s West River Star Destroyer encounters a black hole while performing a mission in the galaxy. The black hole sucks in the starship and sends it to another dimension. Han Yu wakes up to find himself on an unknown planet with no signs of life.

Han Yu decides to explore the planet using his Kirin Tank and his artificial intelligence Wang Shu. He hopes to find some clues about his location and situation. He also hopes to find some resources to repair his damaged starship.

Meanwhile, Nan Gong Xiao’s daughter Nan Gong Zi Yi leads a team of The next moment, Nan Gong Xiao’s purple cloud sense detected a huge surge of energy from the tank’s main cannon. He barely had time to react before a bright beam of plasma shot out and hit his purple cloud shield.

The impact was so powerful that it sent him flying backwards, leaving a trail of smoke and sparks behind him. He felt a sharp pain in his chest, as if his golden core was about to burst.

He looked down and saw a large hole in his shield, exposing his robes and flesh. He could smell his own blood and burnt skin. He couldn’t believe what he saw. How could a mere metal box have such a terrifying weapon?

He quickly took out a healing pill and swallowed it, hoping to recover some of his strength. He knew he had underestimated his opponent, and he had paid a heavy price for it.

He looked up and saw the tank moving towards him, ready to finish him off. He gritted his teeth and clenched his sword. He was the patriarch of the Nan Gong Family, one of the most powerful families in the Jingzhou region. He was a peak Dao Seeking cultivator, only one step away from becoming an immortal. He had faced countless dangers and enemies in his life, and he had always prevailed.

He gathered all his remaining spiritual energy and infused it into his sword. He unleashed his most powerful sword technique, the Purple Cloud Slash. He aimed at the tank’s main cannon, hoping to destroy it before it could fire again.

The purple cloud sword qi flew out like a crescent moon, cutting through the air with a sharp sound. It collided with the plasma beam, creating a huge explosion that lit up the night sky.

The shockwave was so strong that it shattered the windows of nearby buildings and uprooted trees and rocks. The ground trembled and cracked, forming deep fissures.

Han Yu felt the impact inside the tank. He saw the sword qi coming at him, but he didn’t flinch. He fired his main cannon without hesitation, knowing that it was his only chance to survive.

He trusted Wang Shu’s analysis and judgment. Wang Shu had told him that Nan Gong Xiao was a powerful cultivator who could manipulate space and time. If he let him get close, he would be doomed.

He also trusted his own instincts and experience. He was a starship captain from a level 9 technological civilization. He had traveled across the multiverse and fought against various enemies and threats. He had seen things that Nan Gong Xiao couldn’t even imagine.

He knew that technology was not inferior to cultivation. It was just a different way of understanding and manipulating the natural world. He knew that his tank was not just a metal box. It was a masterpiece of engineering and science.

He watched as the plasma beam met the sword qi, creating a dazzling spectacle of light and sound. He felt a surge of adrenaline and excitement. He knew that this was the moment of truth.

The outcome of this clash would determine his fate.

Would he be able to defeat Nan Gong Xiao and escape from this strange planet?

Or would he be killed by Nan Gong Xiao and die alone in this unknown world?

Best prebuilt gaming pc reddit

What is the most reliable prebuilt gaming PC?

Reliability can vary based on individual experiences and the specific model of the prebuilt gaming PC. Brands like Alienware, ASUS ROG, and NZXT generally have good reputations for reliability. CyberPowerPC and Origin PC are also known for producing reliable systems.

It’s essential to consider factors such as customer reviews, warranty and support services, and the components used in the PC. Additionally, individual models within a brand may have different reliability levels, so it’s worth researching specific models and checking recent user feedback.

Do prebuilt PCs last longer?

The lifespan of a prebuilt PC is not inherently longer or shorter than that of a custom-built PC.

The durability and longevity of a computer depend on various factors, including the quality of components, how well it’s maintained, and the tasks it’s used for.

Some prebuilt PCs use high-quality components from reputable manufacturers, and these systems can last a long time with proper care.

On the other hand, some budget prebuilts might cut corners on component quality, potentially affecting their lifespan.

Custom-built PCs can be designed with specific high-quality components, but their longevity depends on the choices made during the build process.

In summary, both prebuilt and custom-built PCs can last a long time if they are well-built and properly maintained. It’s crucial to consider the quality of components and reviews when choosing a prebuilt system to ensure a reliable and long-lasting PC.

Is it cheaper to build a PC then buy a prebuilt?

Building a PC can sometimes be cheaper than buying a prebuilt one, but it depends on various factors. When you build your own PC, you have control over the components you choose, and you can often find better deals on individual parts, especially during sales or promotions.

Prebuilt PCs, on the other hand, typically include additional costs for assembly, testing, and the convenience of having everything put together for you. However, prebuilts can sometimes benefit from bulk purchasing discounts, reducing the price difference.

It’s essential to consider your budget, technical expertise, and the time you’re willing to invest in building a PC. If you enjoy the process and want specific components, building might be more cost-effective. If you prefer convenience and warranty support, a prebuilt PC could be a better option.

Ultimately, the cost difference can vary, and it’s worth comparing prices for both prebuilt and individual components to make an informed decision based on your needs.

What is the best prebuilt gaming PC brand?

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer to the “best” prebuilt gaming PC brand, as it often depends on individual preferences, needs, and budget. However, some brands are generally well-regarded for their gaming PCs. Here are a few:

Alienware: Known for high-quality builds and performance, Alienware, a subsidiary of Dell, is popular among gamers.

NZXT: NZXT offers sleek and well-designed prebuilt systems, often praised for their aesthetics and performance.

Cyber Power PC: This brand provides a range of gaming PCs at different price points, offering good value for the performance.

Origin PC: Renowned for custom-built systems, Origin PC allows a high degree of customization for users looking for specific components.

ASUS ROG: The Republic of Gamers (ROG) line from ASUS includes prebuilt gaming PCs known for their high performance and quality.

Remember that the “best” brand can change over time, and it’s crucial to check reviews and compare specific models within a brand based on your requirements and budget. Reading user experiences and expert reviews can provide valuable insights into the reliability and performance of different prebuilt gaming PCs.

What is the top 1 gaming PC?

There isn’t a single “top” gaming PC, as it often depends on individual preferences, needs, and budget. The gaming PC market is diverse, with various models offering different specifications and features. The best gaming PC for you will depend on factors like the type of games you play, your performance requirements, and your budget.

Some well-regarded gaming PC models as of my last update in 2022 include the Alienware Aurora R10, NZXT H Series, CyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme VR, and various custom builds from reputable manufacturers like Origin PC.

For the most up-to-date information, it’s advisable to check recent reviews, user feedback, and rankings from reputable sources, as the gaming PC landscape can change with new releases and advancements in technology.

Is it okay to buy a prebuilt gaming PC?

Absolutely! Buying a prebuilt gaming PC can be a convenient and practical choice, especially if you’re not comfortable building a PC yourself or simply prefer the convenience of having everything ready to go. Many reputable manufacturers offer prebuilt gaming PCs with high-quality components and excellent performance.

Here are a few considerations:

Convenience: Prebuilt PCs save you the time and effort of selecting individual components, assembling them, and dealing with potential compatibility issues.

Warranty and Support: Most prebuilt gaming PCs come with warranties, and you have the support of the manufacturer if any issues arise. This can be reassuring, especially for those who may not be tech-savvy.

Quality Components: Reputable brands often use high-quality components, ensuring good performance and reliability.

Aesthetics: Prebuilt systems often have a cohesive design, and some users appreciate the aesthetic appeal of a well-designed gaming PC.

While building your own PC can offer customization and potentially cost savings, it’s entirely okay to opt for a prebuilt gaming PC if it better suits your preferences and needs. Just make sure to research and choose a model from a reputable brand with positive reviews.

Well, there are a few reasons why prebuilt PCs can be more affordable. First off, manufacturers often buy components in bulk, which can lower the overall cost. They also have efficient assembly lines, so they can put everything together at a faster rate. Plus, they might get deals from software suppliers for including certain programs with their systems. It’s like buying in bulk at a discount store—quantity and efficiency can lead to savings.

Can a beginner build a PC?

Absolutely! Building a PC might seem daunting at first, but it’s like adult LEGO—just follow the instructions. There are plenty of online resources and step-by-step guides that can help beginners through the process. It can be a rewarding experience, and you get exactly what you want in your rig. So, if you’re up for a bit of a project, go for it!

How to choose a gaming PC?

Choosing a gaming PC involves a bit of matchmaking between your preferences and the specs of the machine. Here’s a quick guide:

Budget: Decide how much you’re willing to spend. This will narrow down your options.

Performance: Look for a PC with a good graphics card (GPU) and processor (CPU). These are crucial for gaming. Make sure they meet the requirements of the games you want to play.

RAM: Games are getting more demanding, so aim for at least 16GB of RAM. It helps with multitasking while gaming.

Storage: Consider a PC with a decent-sized SSD for faster load times. You can complement it with a larger HDD for additional storage.

Form Factor: Decide if you want a desktop or a laptop. Desktops generally offer better performance for the price, but laptops are more portable.

Upgradability: Check if the PC allows for easy upgrades. This can extend its lifespan.

Reviews: Look for reviews from both experts and users. They can give you insights into real-world performance and potential issues.

Brand Reputation: Established brands often have better customer support and warranty policies.

Remember, the “best” gaming PC is the one that fits your needs and budget. Happy hunting!

These bundles often offer a combination of high-quality build, customizable features, and responsive performance.

Is A mouse more important than a keyboard for gaming?

It really depends on the type of games you play and your personal preferences. For certain genres like first-person shooters, a high-quality mouse with precise tracking and customizable buttons can make a significant difference. On the other hand, if you play strategy or simulation games, a feature-rich keyboard with programmable keys might be more crucial.

In many cases, it’s about finding a balance between the two. Both a good gaming mouse and keyboard contribute to an immersive and responsive gaming experience. Ultimately, it’s worth investing in both if you want to enhance your overall gaming setup

What is the best keyboard and mouse set?

Determining the “best” keyboard and mouse set can be subjective, as it depends on individual preferences, gaming needs, and budget.

Razer Huntsman Elite Gaming Keyboard and Razer Death Adder Elite Gaming Mouse: Razer products are popular for their performance and customizable RGB lighting.

When choosing a set, consider your preferred switch type for the keyboard, mouse grip style, and any specific features you prioritize, such as programmable buttons, RGB lighting, or wireless capabilities.

What keyboard do pro gamers use?

The keyboards used by pro gamers vary widely based on personal preference and the games they specialize in. However, some models are commonly seen in the hands of professional gamers:

Logitech G Pro X Mechanical Gaming Keyboard: This compact and customizable keyboard is favored by many professional sports players for its responsive switches and portability.

Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT Mechanical Gaming Keyboard: Known for its premium build quality, dedicated macro keys, and customizable RGB lighting, it’s a popular choice among gamers.

SteelSeries Apex Pro Mechanical Gaming Keyboard: Its customizable mechanical switches, magnetic wrist rest, and sleek design make it a favorite among some professional gamers.

HyperX Alloy FPS Pro Mechanical Gaming Keyboard: This ten keyless keyboard is praised for its simplicity, portability, and responsiveness, making it a favorite for FPS players.

Remember, the “best” keyboard for a pro gamer depends on individual preferences, hand size, preferred switch type, and the games they play. It’s always a good idea to try out different keyboards to find the one that suits your gaming style best.

Which is faster keyboard or mouse?

In terms of raw speed, the mouse is generally considered faster than the keyboard, especially when it comes to precise movements in gaming. A high-quality gaming mouse with a high DPI (dots per inch) setting allows for quick and accurate cursor movements, essential in fast-paced games.

However, the speed of input also depends on the context. In certain tasks and games, the keyboard may be the primary input for executing commands, and its speed is crucial for things like hotkeys and key combinations.

In the end, both the keyboard and mouse play complementary roles in gaming, and their effectiveness depends on the type of game and individual preferences. It’s common for gamers to use a combination of keyboard and mouse inputs to maximize their performance.

What is the best size keyboard for gaming?

The best size for a gaming keyboard depends on your personal preferences and playstyle. Here are the main sizes available:

Full-sized (100%): This includes the standard layout with a number pad. It’s great if you use the number pad frequently or for games that involve a lot of key bindings.

Ten keyless (TKL or 80%): These keyboards omit the number pad, providing a more compact design. This is popular among gamers who want a more ergonomic setup or need extra space for mouse movement.

Compact/60% Keyboards: These keyboards are even more compact, often omitting function keys and the arrow cluster. They are ideal for gamers who prioritize a minimalistic and portable setup.

The best size for gaming really depends on your preferences and the types of games you play. If you need quick access to a variety of keys, a full-sized keyboard might be suitable. If you prefer a more streamlined setup and have a smaller desk, a TKL or compact keyboard might be better.

What are the disadvantages of a mouse?’

While mice are essential input devices for computers, especially in gaming, they do have some disadvantages:

Limited Precision: While modern gaming mice offer high precision, there can still be limitations in certain scenarios, such as extremely high-speed movements or on surfaces that don’t work well with optical or laser sensors.

Ergonomics: The design of a mouse may not be suitable for everyone. Some people may experience discomfort or even repetitive strain injuries with prolonged use.

Dependence on Surface: Mice rely on a suitable surface for accurate tracking. Some surfaces, like glass or reflective ones, may pose challenges for optical or laser sensors.

Cord Management: Wired mice can be affected by cord drag or tangles, potentially affecting the user’s experience. Wireless mice address this but come with their own considerations, such as battery life.

Learning Curve: For individuals new to computers or gaming, using a mouse might have a learning curve. It takes time to develop the hand-eye coordination and muscle memory needed for precise control.

Despite these disadvantages, mice remain an integral part of computer interaction. Advancements in sensor technology and ergonomic design have mitigated many of these issues in modern mice.

Do the advantages of using a mouse outweigh these drawbacks for you?

Well, I don’t use a mouse, but if I had hands and needed precise control over a computer, I’d probably lean towards using a mouse. The advantages in terms of precise pointing, quick movements, and customization options are quite compelling. However, I’d likely also explore other input methods, like touchscreens or voice commands, to see how they compare. Each has its strengths and weaknesses, so it’s all about finding the right tool for the job!

How to Learn from the Legendary Game Designer Shigeru Miyamoto

When you think of smartphones, you might think of Steve Jobs. When you talk about martial arts novels, you probably think of Jin Yong. And if you have to pick one representative from the game developers, there is no doubt that this person is Shigeru Miyamoto.

He has contributed to the gaming industry more than Jobs did to smartphones, or Jin Yong did to martial arts. He is the creator of some of the most iconic and influential game franchises of all time, such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, Star Fox and Pikmin.

But if you are new to single-player games, you might say: “Shigeru Miyamoto? I know him. He’s the guy who made Super Mario.”

Wrong. Very wrong.

Shigeru Miyamoto not only made Super Mario, but also Zelda and Pikmin. He also led the development of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which is the highest-rated game in history according to Metacritic. He also mentored Eiji Aonuma and Koizumi Yoshiaki, who later made The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey respectively.

So Shigeru Miyamoto is not only a master of game design himself, but also a great teacher who nurtured a generation of game developers. He deserves to be called the god of games, and the god among gods.

But what makes Shigeru Miyamoto so special? What can we learn from his game design philosophy and techniques? How did he create such amazing games that are loved by millions of players around the world?

In this blog post, I will use the most familiar example of Super Mario Bros., the first level in particular, to help you understand how Shigeru Miyamoto designed his levels and why they are so brilliant.

Let’s get started.

The Opening Screen

As soon as you start the game, you will see a opening scene.

It looks pretty simple, right? But there is a lot of thought behind this screen:

First of all, the opening screen is free of any danger, allowing the player to experiment with Mario’s basic controls and get a feel of what the game is about. This is very different from some modern games where the protagonist starts in a perilous situation, such as hanging from a train, fighting pirates on boats, or in bar fights. As awesome as these games are, there is something relaxing about starting the game simply and allowing players the freedom to mess around.

Secondly, the screen positions Mario on the left with a lot of empty space on the right. These design choices create an affordance and subtly tell the player to move right. Affordance refers to the possibility of an action on an object or the environment. For example, a sidewalk presents the affordance of standing, walking, and running. The fact that Mario stays in the center of the screen for the rest of the game makes his opening position on the left even more noticeable.

It should also be noted that video game budgets were not as big as they are now, and Shigeru Miyamoto had to be resourceful with his graphics. He used the same elements for both the bushes and the clouds to save memory.

Boxes and Goombas

As Mario moves forward, he encounters things that are both intriguing and intimidating.

Once again, there is much more going on beneath the surface.

The first thing that catches your eye is the golden question mark box. It sparks your curiosity and makes you want to hit it. But how do you hit it? You have to jump. And how do you jump? You have to press A. This is how Shigeru Miyamoto teaches you one of the most important actions in the game without using any text or tutorial.

The second thing that draws your attention is the Goomba, which is a brown mushroom-like creature with angry eyebrows. It looks dangerous and menacing, and it moves towards you. This is how Shigeru Miyamoto introduces you to one of the most common enemies in the game without using any text or tutorial.

The question mark box and the Goomba together form a challenge for the player. A challenge is a short task, surrounded by periods of relative safety, which the player must complete all at once. Challenges are the source of gameplay and fun in games. Successful challenges reward players with satisfaction and progress.

The design of this challenge is clever because it gives players multiple ways to deal with it. You can jump over or on top of the Goomba; you can hit or ignore the question mark box; you can even run into or away from the Goomba. Each choice has a different outcome and consequence. For example, if you jump on the Goomba, you will kill it and earn 100 points. If you hit the question mark box, you will get a coin or a power-up. If you run into the Goomba, you will die and lose a life. These are all valuable information that the player learns through trial and error.

The Red Mushroom

The next question mark box contains a red mushroom, which is one of the most iconic power-ups in the game. It makes Mario grow bigger and stronger, allowing him to break bricks and survive one hit from enemies.

But what if you don’t know that? What if you think the mushroom is an enemy and try to avoid it? Shigeru Miyamoto thought of that too.

If you don’t hit the question mark box, that’s fine. You can still play the game without the mushroom. But you will miss out on some fun and benefits.

If you hit the question mark box but don’t catch the mushroom, that’s fine too. The mushroom will bounce off the pipe and come back to you. It’s like Shigeru Miyamoto is saying: “Hey, trust me, this is good for you. Take it.”

If you hit the question mark box but try to dodge the mushroom, that’s not so easy. The mushroom will follow you and try to touch you. It’s like Shigeru Miyamoto is saying: “Hey, don’t be afraid, this is not an enemy. Try it.”

If you hit the question mark box and catch the mushroom, congratulations! You have just discovered one of the coolest features in the game. You will see Mario grow bigger and hear a satisfying sound effect. You will feel powerful and happy.

The Pit

The next challenge is a pit, which is a gap in the ground that leads to instant death if you fall into it. After the previous two challenges, you have learned how to jump and how to deal with enemies. Now it’s time to test your jumping skills and timing.

But jumping over a pit is not as easy as it sounds. You have to calculate the distance and speed of your jump, and avoid any obstacles in your way. This is one of the main difficulties in Super Mario games.

Shigeru Miyamoto knew that this challenge might be too hard for some players, so he designed some hidden features to help them.

One of them is a hidden green mushroom, which gives you an extra life if you catch it. It’s hidden inside a brick above the pit, and it only appears if you hit it from below.

The green mushroom serves two purposes: one is to break your jump and prevent you from jumping too early and falling into the pit; the other is to reward you for finding a secret and give you another chance if you fail.

The green mushroom also hints at another feature of the game: hidden blocks. There are many hidden blocks in Super Mario games that contain coins or power-ups. Some of them are visible only when you hit them; some of them are invisible until you reveal them. They encourage players to explore every corner of the game world and find surprises.

The Rest of the Level

The rest of the level contains more challenges and secrets for players to discover. For example:

The second question mark box contains a fire flower, which lets Mario shoot fireballs at enemies. If you are small Mario, it will give you a red mushroom instead.

The brick under the second question mark box can be hit multiple times to get more coins. This teaches players that some bricks can be hit more than once, and also prevents players from breaking their way through.

There is a hidden star in one of the bricks above the pit. The star makes Mario invincible for a short time, allowing him to run through enemies and obstacles without getting hurt.

When Mario gets the star, the music changes to a more upbeat tune, and Mario changes colors rapidly. This tells players that something special has happened, and they should take advantage of it.

There are two ways to finish the level: either by running through the flagpole at the end, or by jumping over it and entering a secret warp zone that lets players skip ahead to later worlds.

Conclusion

This is how Shigeru Miyamoto designed his levels: he used simple graphics and sounds to create immersive worlds; he used clever challenges and secrets to teach players how to play; he used multiple choices and outcomes to reward players for their actions; he used hidden features and surprises to delight players with their discoveries.

He did all this without using any text or tutorial; he let players learn by doing; he let players have fun by playing.

This is why Shigeru Miyamoto is considered one of the greatest game designers of all time; this is why Super Mario Bros. is one of the most influential games of all time; this is why we can learn so much from his game design philosophy and techniques.
